Graphite is an open source font rendering system coordinated by SIL International. Experimental builds of Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird have been released that have been built with Graphite support.

Microsoft's Vietnamese keyboard layout has taken a different approach to Vietnamese keyboard layouts developed by third party developers. This has an interesting, if problematic effect on searching some sites such as Google and BBC Tiếng Việt.

Multilingualism for Cultural Diversity and Participation of All in Cyberspace is a conference sponsored by UNESCO, in partnership with the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN), the Agence Intergouvernementale de la Francophonie (AIF) and the Government of Mali and some other international institutions. It was in Bamako, Mali, on 6 and 7 May 2005, and follows on from the Bamako 2000 worshops which was part of the leadup to the first phase of the WSIS. Outcomes should be interesting.
