This keyboard was developed to facilitate typing text written in Nuer.

How to type in Nuer

The keyboard layout is a Unicode based keyboard layout for Tavultesoft Keyman.

Correct display of all Nuer letters should occur on all versions of Windows if an appropriate font is installed. Displaying Nuer requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. Nuer text will correctly display on older versions of Windows in Microsoft Ofifce 2003. For further information refer to http://www.openroad.net.au/languages/african/nuer/.

Typing diacritics

  1. Macron below: type the vowel then the semi-colon key, e.g. (a; yields a̱)
  2. Diaeresis: type the vowel then the quote key, e.g. (a' yields ä)
